District 5180 Speech Contest

2027 Speech Contest Theme:  Create Lasting Impact

Each year, the Rotary clubs in District 5180 hold a youth speech contest for high school students to encourage and support them in enhancing and improving their public presentation skills as they reflect on the speech contest theme and offer their thoughts and insights during their presentation.  Each student's presentation is judged on delivery, originality and content.  And, students receive a monetary award if they achieve a result within the top three highest scores.

The 2027 theme is "Create Lasting Impact" which builds upon the Rotary International Theme, “Create Lasting Impact.”

Starting in October 2026, clubs will be encouraged to kick-off their speech contest by building community-wide awareness of the contest and begin their recruitment efforts with their local high schools.

Throughout the speech contest process, our 2026-2027 District 5180 Speech Contest Chair, Bill Highland, can answer any questions and address issues.  You can email Bill by clicking here.
