Inspire everyone to do ONE thing this year...Here are a few suggestions!
★ Participate in a Zoom conference and provide a few sentences on how it changed their outlook, viewpoint, knowledge…
★ Volunteer for one service project
★ Share something from District 5180 on their social media channels
★ Invite one person to a meeting
★ Write something inspiring to use in our marketing to Rotary International and the world
Goals
The goals of the committee mirror the duties and responsibilities suggested by Rotary International.
As of February 2019, Rotary International updated the International Services Chair Responsibilities. It focuses on four key areas:
Leadership
- Create and lead a District International Service Committee, or DISC
- Work closely with the District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair
- Create and maintain a District Resource Network of individuals and partnerships
- Engage the host country Regional Grants Officer
- Assist the district and clubs in getting started with international service projects
- Attend district and club meetings
- Participate actively as a member of the Governor’s district advisory committee to maintain international service awareness and focus
Communication
- Initiate and maintain contact with Club International Service Chairs
- Serve as the conduit for DISC with the District Foundation Committee
- Publicize international service training opportunities @District Assembly
- Service Seminars, Webinars, GoToMeetings, Rotary Leadership Institute, etc.
- Database project ideas, those in-process, completed by the district clubs
- Update the district website for communicating international service information
Education
- Advise the clubs about international service changes and pilot programs
- Coordinate DISC seminars, & event breakout sessions to promote awareness
- Increase understanding and provide educational opportunities
- Attend the annual Grant Management Seminar as a presenting participant
Public Image
- Publicize international service project beginnings, progress, and successful outcomes within the district
- On Rotary Showcase
- And throughout the local community using printed media, TV, radio and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
