Rotary family, I am at a loss for words this month. The events of last week in our nation's capital shook me to the core, as I'm sure it did for many of you. I was thinking about what could help restore our country, and help bridge some of the divide that seems to get bigger every day. It dawned on me that this is really a great moment for Rotarians to step up, to lead and to be the example of what right looks like.

I was reminded of one of the reasons I love Rotary so much - the Four-Way Test. The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships.

Of the things we think, say or do
  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
There is so much misinformation out there. Let's make sure that we, as Rotarians, take the time to work through the Four-Way Test as we share and engage with friends, family and neighbors. Let's be part of the solution.

Wishing you all a brighter 2021,

DG Brent
