‘Tis the season to be jolly and jolly I am! Having just wrapped up 36 club visits within four months, I came away amazed at all the creative ways clubs of all sizes serve and support our district communities.

All the many projects, taken on by our clubs, are bringing help and hope to our communities and keeping all Rotary members excited and engaged. Here are a few of these projects:

The Rotary Club of Elk Grove supported 110 families by providing meal baskets for their Thanksgiving dinner.

During the season of giving the Rotary Club of Marysville wrapped over 200 gifts for students at Virginia school in Wheatland.

Point West Rotary delivered fresh vegetables from their PDG Brian Moore Rotary Garden to the River City Food Bank.

On the first Saturday of December, Laguna Sunrise Rotary held a successful annual shop with a cop early in the morning giving foster children the opportunity to shop for others while building a relationship with a local police officer.

Clubs not only gave to individuals they also supported all of the local food banks. Thank you to all of our members for all the selfless things you do.

Each year, Rotary has a float in the Rose Bowl Parade.  On Monday, January 2, eight District Governors from around the world, will join Rotary International President Jennifer Jones on or walking beside the float. I am incredibly humbled and beyond excited to represent District 5180 as a rider on the beautiful carousel horse float. I’ll be in the burgundy dress with a big hat and my best “royal” wave! Be sure to follow the float’s creation on the Rotary Rose Bowl Float Facebook page.

Mike and I wish you and your loved ones a safe and blessed holiday season and a purposeful and prosperous New Year.  See you at the Rose Bowl Parade.
